This thing has kept me from getting lost but is awkward for me and everybody else I've asked who has to use. To top it off while researching a large town we will be vacationing in I discovered that my TomTom couldn't find walmart, the liquor store, nor the laundromat. So, it is good for the big stuff for me - town to town - but no help on the small stuff unless you enjoy wrestling awkward hardware packed with awkward software to find a useful result less than half the time after a half an hour of peck back up peck oh look here oh search different oh try this. If you can't tell, I wouldn't even accept another of these as a gift.

I have owned this since February 2009. It worked intermittently. It's difficult to charge this when it's not in the car because of the relative inaccessibility of the plug-in. I was traveling recently and needed to find a location, and the GPS finally quit altogether. Fortunately I had a cell phone and could find the location. I have had the GPS on the charger now for several days, and it just won't turn on. Unfortunately I didn't have a warranty with this item. I'll not buy a TomTom again.

Consistantly tries to take me 100's of miles out of my way.
Time estimates are off by several hours for a 1/2 day trip.
Machine periodically locks up or goes haywire.
Online updates to the unit often as not make things worse.
Suction cup won't stay stuck to windshield.
Buy a toaster instead - It will do a better job navigating, and at least you'll be able to have some toast.

I am directionally challenged... So I definitely hopped on the opportunity to pick this up at Target for $86 as a substitution for a lesser known brand that went out of stock. The maps on this thing are not up to date and a lot of streets are not even on it.. Even my workplace which is a popular Casino.. They want you to pay extra to get new updated maps which is so stupid. I am getting better with knowing my way around so I don't use this too much.. But it has come in handy. Love the speedometer on it cause mine is broken. Touchy, kinda complicates using it sometimes. Definitely not as accurate as Garmin.. Oh well. It's worth the $86 I paid, maybe not the price on here.

WILL TAKE YOU "AROUND THE WORLD" EVEN WHEN YOU ARE NOT GOING THERE.
FROM N.C. TO MARYLAND TAKES AN HOUR LONGER THAN A FOUR YEAR OLD GARMIN
THAT HAS NEVER BEEN UPDATED.
WOULD HAVE TOSSED IT OUT THE WINDOW BUT COULD NOT AFFORD THE LITTER CHARGE.
